NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - Police say a Massachusetts man has been accused of pretending to be an employee at a New Hampshire Sears store and taking $9,000 from a customer interested in buying some large-screen televisions.

Police in Nashua, N.H., say on Jan. 18, the victim gave 36-year-old Steven Smith of North Reading, Mass., the money, thinking he was buying 10 of the TVs.

Police said Smith was charged on Friday with theft by deception and is due in court next week.
