LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - A Lawrence man convicted of binding a man with duct tape and shooting him in the head during a drug robbery nearly a decade ago is scheduled to be sentenced.

The Eagle-Tribune (https://bit.ly/1bZ0LwI ) reports that Cesar Santana faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole at sentencing Tuesday following his conviction Friday to charges including first-degree murder in the August 2004 slaying of Rafael Castro.

Prosecutors say the 37-year-old Santana and another man ambushed the victim in his apartment, bound him with duct tape and shot him, before ransacking the apartment in a search for money and cocaine. A woman in the apartment was bound, but otherwise unharmed.

Investigators obtained DNA evidence from the duct tape used to the bind Castro, which played a key role at trial.
