PORTALES, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico woman is facing charges after authorities say she tried to send marijuana inside a Valentine’s Day card to a Roosevelt County inmate.

The Portales News-Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/JDLN9X) that 30-year-old Jassica Rodriguez was arrested last week and charged with furnishing drugs or liquor to a prisoner.

According to an affidavit, the one gram of marijuana was found inside of a Valentine’s Day card.

Jail officials say the drug was discovered during a routine mail check and staff could smell the marijuana prior to opening the envelope.

The Portales resident was released on a $5,000 bond.

No attorney was listed for Rodriguez.
