Sandra Fluke, who tangled memorably with conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh over insurance coverage of birth control services under Obamacare, is laying the groundwork to run for Congress.
The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Ms. Fluke, who became a public advocate for President Obama’s new contraception coverage mandate, has filed to seek the endorsement off the California Democratic Party in the campaign to replace outgoing Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman, who recently announced he will be leaving at the end of his term.
Ms. Fluke said last week that she was “strongly considering running.”
The 32-year-old lawyer, then a student at Georgetown University Law School, made headlines in 2012 when she testified in favor of having contraception fully covered under the health care law.
She was dubbed a “slut” and a “prostitute” by Mr. Limbaugh, who later apologized for the remarks.
