SOCHI, Russia (AP) - Claudia Bokel has retained her seat on the International Olympic Committee’s executive board representing athletes.

The IOC says Bokel won re-election to chair its athletes’ commission for a further two years.

Like IOC President Thomas Bach, Bokel is an Olympic medal-winning fencer from Germany. She won silver in team epee at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

The IOC says Angela Ruggiero of the United States, a four-time ice hockey medalist, was elected as vice chair of the athletes’ commission.

Athletes at the Sochi Olympics will elect two new members to the commission representing them. There are nine candidates.
