Police in Arizona say a woman who visited her 66-year-old husband in the hospital took advantage of his recovery time to inject some feces into his intravenous tube.
Rosemary Vogel, 65, of Sun Lakes, was allegedly caught doing the deed when the warning alarm on her husband’s hospital hook-ups sounded, CNN reported. Hospital staff responded and reportedly found Mrs. Vogel messing with the IV, police said. She’s been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and vulnerable adult abuse, police say.
Her husband — his name wasn’t released — is expected to survive, said Sgt. Joe Favazzo, in CNN.
Mrs. Vogel is a registered nurse and once worked at a hospital, police said. Nursing staff told police they found a brown substance in the tube, and immediately removed it from Mr. Vogel’s arm.
“This is the first that I’ve heard where fecal matter has been injected in an IV system,” Sgt. Favazzo said.
