MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Two agencies at West Virginia University and one in northern Virginia have been awarded a grant to help examine the Appalachian Regional Commission’s economic impact.
The analysis will be conducted by the WVU Regional Research Institute and the Bureau of Business and Economic Research, and the nonprofit Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness in Arlington, Va.
The goal of the nearly $300,000 grant is to help identify the economic development strategies that are most effective for the ARC, which celebrates its 50th anniversary next year.
The ARC region consists of all of West Virginia and parts of 12 other states from Alabama to upstate New York.
