Famous film director Woody Allen sent out a statement of vehement denial this weekend: I did not have sex with my adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, when she was 7 years old.
His denial came in swift response to Ms. Farrow’s open letter to The New York Times, in which she detailed alleged sexual abuse that occurred at the hands of Mr. Allen in 1992, in the attic of her adopted mother Mia Farrow’s home.
Mr. Allen’s statement, from his representative Leslee Dart: “Mr. Allen has read the article and found it untrue and disgraceful. He will be responding very soon. In the meantime, it is essential that your coverage make the following facts clear: At the time, a thorough investigation was conducted by court-appointed independent experts.”
The statement from Mr. Allen, via Ms. Dart, went on to say that the experts found “no credible evidence of molestation,” CNN reported. The experts also reportedly found that “Dylan Farrow had an inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality, and that Dylan Farrow had likely been coached by her mother Mia.”
Moreover, Ms. Dart reminded in the statement that “no charges were ever filed,” CNN reported.
Ms. Farrow’s statement had been posted on a blog of The New York Times. One excerpt: “What’s your favorite Woody Allen movie? Before you answer, you should know: when I was seven years old, Woody Allen took me by the hand and led me into a dim, closet-like attic on the second floor of our house. He told me to lay on my stomach and play with my brother’s electric train set. Then he sexually assaulted me.”
