LOS ANGELES (AP) - Post Super Bowl XLVIII, its clear Universal Pictures has something in common with victors the Seattle Seahawks - a clean sweep. “Ride Along” remains the No. 1 film for the third week in a row.
Clutching the top slot at the box office with $12 million, was the Kevin Hart and Ice Cube buddy cop comedy, according to final numbers on Monday.
Disney’s “Frozen,” now in its 11th week at the box office, slid in second place with $8.9 million. The studio rereleased a singalong version of the film, as the movie’s soundtrack remains No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. “Frozen” singalong shows added $2.2 million to the film’s weekend total.
In their first weekend at the box office, romantic comedy “That Awkward Moment,” managed to come in third with $8.7 million despite lackluster reviews, while Paramount’s drama “Labor Day,” starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin, just made it into the top 10 at No. 7 with $5.1 million.
