AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine advocates are asking lawmakers to order a new review of health care services in the state’s correctional facilities.

Groups including the Maine Prisoner Advocacy Coalition and the Maine Civil Liberties Union want the Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability to do a new report on prisoner health care. They’ve submitted a request to the Government Oversight Committee, which is expected to consider it next month.

The groups say a 2011 report on prisoner health care unveiled many issues in the system. They say they’ve received numerous complaints from inmates since then, indicating that many of those issues are unresolved.
