MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Forecasters are calling for slick road conditions across much of Tennessee.

The National Weather Service says ice can form quickly on wet roadways as temperatures drop below freezing.

WMC-TV reports Memphis police closed Highway 385 Monday morning after several wrecks were reported along the roadway. Traffic was being diverted to another roadway.

Patchy ice and a light accumulation of snow are possible by late morning in Middle Tennessee.

The National Weather Service in Morristown said colder temperatures could change rain to freezing rain leading to icy areas in the Cumberland Plateau. Some areas could see a wintry mix including up to 2 inches of snow.

The wintry weather caused several school districts across the state to cancel classes.
