Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton found a creative way to slide in a dig at Fox News under cover of the Super Bowl.

In a tweet, she wrote: “It’s so much more fun to watch FOX when it’s someone else being blitzed & sacked. #SuperBowl.”

The press secretary to the possible White House contender, Nick Merrill, clarified that tweet was intended as a joke, USA Today reported.

“It was good-natured, light-hearted and self-deprecating,” Mr. Merrill said, USA Today reported.

But the tweet had political undercurrents, nonetheless. It came just hours after Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly raised the sensitive Benghazi, Libya, terrorist attacks with President Obama during a much-ballyhooed Super Bowl interview. The attacks left four Americans dead in 2012 under Mrs. Clinton’s secretarial watch.

Mr. O’Reilly said, during the interview, that many initially blamed the attacks on an impromptu protest born of an anti-Muslim video. Mr. Obama, in reply, pointed fingers at the media.

“They believe it because folks like you are telling them,” Mr. Obama said.

Meanwhile, the Senate Intelligence Committee found in an explosive report released weeks ago the State Department was significantly to blame for failing to bolster security.
