MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Police in suburban Atlanta say DNA evidence has led to a man’s arrest in two rape cases from nearly 30 years ago.

Marietta police spokesman David Baldwin said Monday that Antonio Brooks has been identified as the suspects in two rape cases from September 1986. Brooks was arrested for rape in 1988 and is serving time at a state prison in Leesburg.

Baldwin says a victim contacted police in September and when detectives reviewed old files, they found two open cases where DNA evidence was collected. Baldwin says DNA identified Brooks as the suspect and the methodology used in a rape he was arrested for matched that of the two cold cases.

Brooks is charged with rape, aggravated assault and burglary. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
