RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A Virginia man has been sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison for conspiring to import the drug methylone from China.

Federal prosecutors say 22-year-old Trever Tutwiler of Henrico was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Richmond on Thursday after pleading guilty in November.

According to court documents, Tutwiler served as the leader of a suburban drug trafficking group that imported methylone from China.

Authorities say Tutwiler pooled money from his co-conspirators and ordered a kilogram of the drug off the website of a business located in China.

Law enforcement officials discovered the packaged when it entered the U.S. and then conducted a controlled delivery of the drug to Tutwiler’s residence, where he was then arrested.
