GOSHEN, N.Y. (AP) - A 47-year-old man has been sentenced to up to three years in prison for causing the death of a relative after the two brawled outside an upstate New York bar.
The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (https://bit.ly/1jF5t8C ) that Lee Lopez of Middletown was sentenced Thursday in Orange County Court for criminally negligent homicide for throwing a punch that ultimately lead to the death of 54-year-old Thomas Smith.
Lopez punched Smith outside a Middletown bar in April 2012. Prosecutors say Smith fell and hit his head on the pavement. He was in a coma for three weeks and died from complications in January 2013.
