NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A jury deadlocked in the trial of a Norfolk man charged in a shooting death at a pharmacy.

The Virginian-Pilot reports (https://bit.ly/1ervCHf ) that a circuit court judge declared a mistrial Thursday in Bernell Benn’s voluntary manslaughter case.

Benn was charged in the August 2012 death of Ramon Colorado. In an interview shortly after his arrest, Benn told the Norfolk newspaper he was picking up medicine when Colorado cut in front of him. The two argued, and Colorado sprayed Benn with pepper spray. Police said Benn then fired a handgun at Colorado, who pulled a gun and returned fire, hitting Benn in the shoulder.
