FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) - Michael Williams scored 23 points and Alex Harris scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half as Cal State Fullerton topped Cal State Northridge 82-81 on Thursday night.

Fullerton (10-17, 5-8 Big West Conference) jumped out to a 14-4 lead just more than 5 minutes into the game and never trailed in the contest.

Northridge (14-16, 6-8), however, wouldn’t go away without a fight.

Harris made a jumper with 14 minutes to play, extending the Titans’ lead to 11, but a 10-1 run by the Matadors closed the gap to 61-59 with 11:11 left.

Harris hit a 3 with 2:46 remaining, pushing the Fullerton lead back into double digits before a 9-2 spurt by Northridge made it 80-77 with 30 seconds to go, but the Titans held on despite making just 2 of 6 free throws from there.

Stephen Maxwell paced Northridge with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
