LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The National Weather Service says a potentially “significant” winter weather event could occur late Sunday into Monday morning in parts of northern Arkansas.
Forecasters say freezing rain and sleet are possible for “prolonged periods” in parts of northern Arkansas on Sunday night and Monday. Cold air will be spilling into the state as the precipitation is falling, which forecasters say could make for a significant weather event.
The weather service says heavy rain could fall in parts of southern Arkansas during the same period. Forecasters say it’s too early to predict possible accumulations with the system.
On Thursday night, a light mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain could hit northwest Arkansas but no major accumulation is expected.
