Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid late Wednesday dialed back his claim that Obamacare horror stories aired by conservative donors like the billionaire industrialist Koch brothers are “all untrue,” but he still thinks most of the negative anecdotes about the new health law are false.
“I can’t say that all of the Koch ads on Obamacare are deceptive, but the vast majority are,” he tweeted.
He reiterated his new outlook on the Senate floor, where several hours earlier he had caused an uproar by saying: “Despite all that good news, there’s plenty of horror stories being told. All of them are untrue, but they’re being told all over America.”
That comment prompted Republicans to blast out a list of news reports about Obamacare angst with the email subject line, “They’re all lying?”
Mr. Reid, however, used his late-afternoon speech to double down on some of his previous criticism, calling the Koch brothers “about as un-American as anyone I can imagine.”
