MCENTIRE JOINT NATIONAL GUARD BASE, S.C. (AP) - Members of the South Carolina Air National Guard are delaying their air defense exercise flight over Anderson and Columbia.
Guard spokesman Senior Master Sgt. Edward Synder says Wednesday’s scheduled exercise has been put off a day because of poor weather conditions.
On Thursday, fighter jets from the 169th Fighter Wing from McEntire Joint National Guard Base near Eastover may be seen escorting a single-engine aircraft between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The exercise is planned and controlled to help train pilots and crews in their mission of rapid response to an alert.
The unit is part of the U.S. strategic force poised to respond to any airborne threats over the nation.
