Obama tells Obamacare volunteers: You’re doing ‘God’s work’

President Obama told the pro-Obamacare crowd that they ought not be discouraged by those who put down the health care reform and point out its many failures and flounderings because the Affordable Care cause has been blessed by God.

“We’re going to make a big push these last few weeks,” Mr. Obama said, to a crowd of Obamacare volunteers at a Tuesday evening Organizing for Action event in Washington, D.C., reported by Politico. “I can talk, my team can talk here in Washington, but it’s not going to make as much of a difference as if you are out there making the case. The work you’re doing is God’s work. It is hard work.”

He made the statements while touting what he says were the 4 million who have signed up for Obamacare — a number that contrasts with what Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius claimed in 2013 would be the success point for enrollment, around 7 million. Mr. Obama was trying to rally his base to enroll as many as possible in Obamacare by the deadline of March 31.

Mr. Obama also urged supporters to not believe the press reports on Obamacare put forth by “the wrong newscast,” Politico reported.

“[It’s] a combination of an implacable opposition that has spent hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions of dollars, to spread misinformation [about HealthCare.gov’s website failures so] a lot of people who really could use this coverage are unsure,” he said, Politico reported. “We’ve got to make sure that they know that this will pay off for them.”
