SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - A northern Indiana college has received a $1 million grant from the Lilly Endowment to find more jobs for its graduates within the state of Indiana.

Holy Cross College announced the grant Tuesday. It says the money will allow college in South Bend to further develop its Center for Discernment and Preparation and its Center for Educational Outreach.

Holy Cross Executive Vice President and Provost Tina Holland says the initiatives respond directly to the hiring needs of local organizations and businesses.

One collaboration with the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Workforce Development establishes standards by which students will be certified “career ready after internships throughout Indiana. Holy Cross expects to have 40 new internship partners.
