COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Heathwood Hall forward A’ja Wilson has been named the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association high school player of the year.

The WBCA announced the award Wednesday.

Wilson is a 6-foot-4 senior who has averaged 35 points a game this season. She’s considered the country’s top college prospect and has narrowed her choices of where to play to Connecticut, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

WBCA CEO Beth Bass said Wilson has set high standards for high school players who come after her.

Wilson was also part of the WBCA’s 10-player high school All-America team.

Wilson has helped Heathwood Hall advance to the semifinals for the South Carolina Independent School Associaton tournamnent.
