CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Casper math teacher who admitted to having sex with a teen has pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor.

Tyler Jeffrey Russell pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse in the third degree Tuesday. The Casper Star-Tribune (https://bit.ly/1psRXZp ) reports he was originally charged with sexual abuse in the second degree.

Russell was 24 at the time of the abuse and working at Centennial Junior High School. Court documents state his victim was born in 1999, making her either 13 or 14 at the time.

According to court documents, information on the girl’s Facebook page led the girl’s mother to suspect she was having a relationship with Russell.

Russell could face up to 30 years in prison but prosecutors have recommended he get between three and 12 years.
