SOMERVILLE, N.J. (AP) - The son of a former New York Giants football player is being offered a plea agreement in his assault by auto case.

Gannett New Jersey (https://mycj.co/1cjjlA8) reports Somerset County Prosecutor Frank Kolodzieski told a judge Monday he’ll make an offer this week to Clint Benson.

Benson, son of former Giants offensive lineman Brad Benson, is charged with aggravated assault, assault by auto and other offenses stemming from an incident on St. Patrick’s Day last year.

Prosecutors contend the 22-year-old Hillsborough resident intentionally ran into a man with whom he’d had a dispute outside a bar in Branchburg. The man suffered a fractured skull, bruised lungs and other injuries. Benson was arrested about a mile away.

Brad Benson played on the Giants team that won the Super Bowl in 1987.
