NEBO, N.C. (AP) - The U.S. Forest Service has scheduled a prescribed burn for nearly 120 acres in Pisgah National Forest.

The burn is scheduled for Tuesday in the Grandfather Ranger District. It’s to take place in McDowell County off of Old Linville Rd.

According to the forest service, the prescribed burn will reduce the amount of fuel on the forest floor, preventing destructive wildfires and reducing risks to nearby communities.

No roads or trails will be closed during the prescribed burn. Drivers are advised to use caution when traveling in the areas because of the possibility of smoke and firefighters on the roads.
