HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - Billionaire Ron Perelman’s suit against his late father-in-law won’t be heard by New Jersey’s Supreme Court.
Perelman sued Robert Cohen, patriarch of the Hudson News chain, in 2008. Perelman claimed his ex-wife, Claudia Cohen, was promised half of the Hudson News business. He also contested a $10 million loan given to Claudia Cohen by her father, claiming it was a gift.
A state Superior Court judge in Hackensack sided with Robert Cohen, and an appeals court upheld that decision.
The Record (https://bit.ly/MqN3Mw) reports the Supreme Court declined to hear the case in a decision that was released Monday.
Perelman’s daughter, Samantha, remains embroiled in a lawsuit against her uncle, James Cohen, in a case that has been on trial in Hackensack since September.
