MILWAUKEE (AP) - The newest head of the FBI’s Milwaukee office is Robert J. Shields Jr., who most recently served as a chief inspector at the agency’s Washington headquarters.

Shields arrived in Milwaukee on Monday as the office’s latest special agent in charge. He replaces Teresa (tur-ESS’-uh) Carlson, who was sent to Washington last year for a temporary duty assignment that was later made permanent.

Shields began his FBI career in 1995 as a special agent Chicago. He started off investigating white-collar crime, and within two years was selected to the division’s cyber squad where he handled computer forensics.

He’s also worked on issues involving civil rights, counterterrorism and security.

Shields has a math degree from Benedictine University and a Master’s degree in information systems from DePaul University.
