SEATTLE (AP) - An agent from the FBI headquarters has been named the acting special agent in charge of the Seattle division.

The FBI said Monday that W. Jay Abbott will lead the division until a permanent replacement is named.

He takes over after the abrupt retirement on Feb. 17 of Laura Laughlin who led the Seattle office for 10 years.

Abbott had been acting deputy assistant director of the Criminal Justice Information Services Division at FBI headquarters.

The special agent in charge of the Seattle office is also responsible for nine other offices in Washington.
