BOSTON (AP) - The state education board has voted to approve new charter schools in Fall River and Springfield and to grant a certificate to the founders of the state’s second virtual school.

The Argosy Collegiate Charter School will open in Fall River in 2014 and enroll 644 students in grades 6-12 when it reaches capacity.

The Springfield Preparatory Charter School will open in 2015, enrolling 486 students in grades K-8.

The TEC Connections Academy - a virtual school proposed in Dedham - will open in 2014. The school may enroll up to 2,000 students in grades K-12. The academy is state’s second virtual school, joining the Massachusetts Virtual Academy at Greenfield.

The board also voted to allow the Atlantis Charter School in Fall River to increase enrollment by 582 students.
