HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (AP) - Figure skater Jason Brown’s hometown of Highland Park has welcomed the bronze medalist back from the Olympics.

The Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1jyo0mZ) there was a celebration for Brown on Tuesday. Brown won his medal with the U.S. in team competition and placed ninth overall in the individual competition. The Sochi games were his first Olympics.

There were two pep assemblies for Brown before a combined 2,000 students at Highland Park High School.

The 19-year-old skater told the students and Highland Park residents that he couldn’t thank them enough for their support.

Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering also presented Brown with a key to the Chicago suburb.
