RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Hampton University’s annual Conference on the Black Family will take a look at media’s role.
The conference is set for March 19-21. The title for the conference is “Essentially Black: Media and the Modern Family.”
Black Entertainment Television co-founder Sheila Johnson will give the opening keynote. Broadcast journalists Michelle Miller of CBS News, Byron Pitts of ABC News and Chris Broussard of ESPN will speak, along with National Urban League President Marc Morial, “Preachers of L.A.” television producers Tina and Harold Lewis, media entrepreneur Michael V. Roberts and Hampton Professor April Woodard, a former television journalist.
The university says the conference will examine race and ethnicity, nontraditional relationships and media coverage across multiple platforms. It also will explore crime and gun violence and health and wellness.
