Last week: Australia’s Jason Day won the Match Play Championship at Dove Mountain in Marana, Ariz., beating France’s Victor Dubuisson on the 23rd hole.

Notes: Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Phil Mickelson and 2012 winner Rory McIlroy are in the field. … Woods is making his third start of the year. He shot a 79 in the third round at Torrey Pines to miss the 54-hole cut and tied for 41st in the European Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic. … Scott is making his first appearance since the Sony Open in early January. … The Champion course was the site of the 1983 Ryder Cup and 1987 PGA Championship. … The WGC-Cadillac Championship is next week at Doral, opposite the Puerto Rico Open.

HSBC WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS

Purse: $1.4 million. Winner’s share: $210,000.

Last year: Stacy Lewis won the first of her three 2013 titles. Na Yeon Choi was second, a stroke back.

Last week: Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist won the LPGA Thailand to end a five-year victory drought, holding off top-ranked Inbee Park by two strokes.

Notes: Nineteen of the top 20 players in the world are in the field. … Lewis tied for fifth last week for her 13th straight top-10 finish, three off the tour record set by Karrie Webb in 2000. … The tour is off the next two weeks. Play will resume March 20-23 with the LPGA Founders Cup in Phoenix.
