MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Robert Bentley is serving as the state co-chair of the Appalachian Regional Commission for 2014.
Bentley was selected by the governors of the other 12 states in the commission. He held the same post in 2012.
The Appalachian Regional Commission is a regional economic development agency that represents a partnership of federal, state and local governments. The commission provides funding for several hundred projects each year in the region.
Bentley’s office says his focus for 2014 will be bettering the lives of domestic abuse victims in Alabama’s 37 Appalachian counties covered by the commission.
