PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - The Board of Regents of Washington State University has given a five-year contract extension to school president Elson S. Floyd.

Floyd has requested that his compensation remain unchanged at this time.

The regents voted Monday to extend his contract from 2016 to 2021.

Board Chair Connie Niva says the extension was a result of Floyd’s exemplary service to WSU and the state.

Floyd became the tenth president of Washington State in 2007 and has grown enrollment to record levels and made many other improvements.
