RENO, Nev. (AP) - A Los Angeles man convicted of acting as a pimp in Reno has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for using a 16-year-old girl to work as a prostitute.

U.S. District Judge Miranda Du sentenced 23-year-old Carlos Navarrette on Monday after he pleaded guilty in November to one count of sex trafficking of a minor.

Nevada U.S, Attorney Daniel Bogden says the man who also went by the name DJ Junior admitted he recruited her for prostitution when he met her at a Reno casino last June even though he knew she was a minor.

Police say Navarette paid for food and hotel rooms for the girl, but forced her to turn over her payments after he arranged for her to engage in four or five commercial sex acts.
