SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown says her office has restored access to business and campaign finance records that were taken offline after someone hacked them.
Brown’s office said Monday that the re-launch process began over the weekend and may have glitches. The systems were taken offline when system administrators discovered an intrusion Feb. 4.
Officials have not said what information the hackers may have stolen. They’ve reset passwords and urged anyone who uses the same access code for other services to change those passwords as well. They say bank account numbers for political committees were encrypted.
Political committees have until March 7 to pay fees that were due between Feb. 4 and Feb. 26. Fees due starting Feb. 27 are subject to normal rules.
