BOSTON (AP) - State gambling regulators have voted against making the Eastern States Exposition eligible for compensation from a proposed resort casino in Springfield.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission voted 3-2 on Monday not to designate “The Big E” in West Springfield as an Impacted Live Entertainment Venue.
The vote came after MGM Resorts agreed not to host live entertainment during the 17-day annual fair.
Big E officials are concerned about an impact on attendance if the casino is built in downtown Springfield.
The commission left open the possibility of revisiting Big E’s petition in the future.
