MARION, N.C. (AP) - A man has been shot to death at a convenience store in Marion.
Police Chief Allen Lawrence says officers were called to the store about 10:30 p.m. Friday. They found 28-year-old Kenneth Pressell of Marion on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jeffrey Ray Elkins of Marion was arrested at the scene and charged with murder.
Elkins is being held in the McDowell County Detention jail. It was not clear if he has an attorney.
Lawrence said the two men were involved in a confrontation before the shooting.
The investigation is continuing.
