SANTEE, S.C. (AP) - Transportation officials want drivers to be extra careful on Interstate 26 as crews begin to pick up debris from the side of the road from the ice storm earlier this month.

The state Department of Transportation said workers will begin picking up trees, limbs and other trash Monday from the shoulder of I-26. They will start at the interchange with Interstate 95 and go both east and west.

Crews started picking up debris on the side of I-95 on Saturday.

The DOT says officers will help keep the crews safe and there may be occasional lane closures.
