ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) - Kendrick Nunn’s 19 points in a win over Minnesota has earned the Illinois guard the Big Ten’s freshman player of the week award.
The conference announced the award Monday.
Nunn’s 19 points included 10 during a key eight-minute stretch late in the Illini’s 62-49 win at Minnesota on Wednesday. The win was just the second in the last 10 games for Illinois (15-12, 4-10 Big Ten)
The 6-3 Chicago Simeon graduate hit on a career-high five 3-pointers. That’s more than any other Illinois player in a game this season.
Nunn is averaging 12 points a game since he became a starter four games ago.
Michigan guard Nik Stauskas was the conference’s player of the week.
