KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) - Kirkland officials are looking at public transit alternatives to move people across the increasingly congested Seattle eastside suburb, and one idea is gondolas.
Not Venetian boats, but compartments hanging from cables.
The Seattle Times reports (https://bit.ly/MUGhQc ) the idea was discussed at a meeting earlier this month at Google’s Kirkland campus.
The aerial cable cars could be used by some of the 1,000 employees Google is expected to hire for expansion in Kirkland.
A gondola could be relatively cheap and quick to build but it could run into resistance if it invades privacy or residential views.
