REVERE, Mass. (AP) - Revere residents for and against a proposed Mohegan Sun casino held events ahead of a vote Tuesday on whether to approve the $1.3 billion project on 42 acres owned by Suffolk Downs.

The Boston Globe reports (https://bo.st/1hIAnPZ) that about 200 people marched to Revere City Hall Sunday afternoon to protest the casino plans, while more than 400 people filled a VFW Hall for a rally in support of the casino organized by the Friends of Mohegan Sun political action group.

Revere residents approved plans by about 60 percent for a casino that would have straddled the Revere-Boston line, but that plan wasn’t approved in East Boston. Tuesday’s vote would allow the casino to be built on land in Revere.
