NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - The Golden Spike Tower that overlooks Union Pacific’s rail yard in North Platte lost money again in 2013, but the size of the loss is shrinking.

KNOP reports the attraction lost about $47,000 last year. That’s down from a $95,000 loss in 2012.

Executive Director Kirsten Parker says she thinks the future is promising. Parker says the attraction is on the right track, and she hopes to stop losing money soon.

The 120-foot-tall Golden Spike Tower opened in 2008. It overlooks Union Pacific’s Bailey Yard, which is believed to be the world’s largest rail yard. The tower contains educational and historical displays.
