BATH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Police have arrested three suspects in the death of a Michigan State University student who was found unconscious along an expressway near East Lansing.
Police from Clinton County’s Bath Township obtained search warrants and made the arrests Saturday in Saline, near Ann Arbor, the Lansing State Journal and radio station WLNS report. The two adults and one juvenile are expected to be held in the Clinton County jail and are expected to be arraigned Monday in St. Johns District Court on open murder charges.
Dustyn Frolka, 19, of Owosso was a sophomore at Michigan State. He was found lying along Interstate 69 in the township on Feb. 15. He was declared dead at Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital.
Frolka had abrasions consistent with hitting the pavement but no obvious wounds, investigators say. Police said they were awaiting toxicology results to determine what killed him.
Frolka was a talented rapper but “had been on kind of a downward spiral” since the fall, said fellow hip-hop musician Blake Selby. Selby told the newspaper that he signed Frolka to the Lansing-based label he runs, though they later parted ways.
Michigan State University police arrested Frolka for cocaine possession on Jan. 31, according to court records. He was then kicked out of his dorm as a threat to safety of other residents, the university said.
