CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) - Trey Sumler scored 18 points as Western Carolina handled The Citadel with a 70-52 win on Saturday.
Western Carolina (17-12, 10-4 Southern Conference) raced to an early 15-3 advantage, led 35-25 at halftime and was up by as many as 24 in the second.
Western Carolina blocked nine shots and broke its single-season blocks record, raising its season total to 142. Kenneth Hall led the Catamounts with four blocks.
James Sinclair added 13 points and Brandon Boggs scored 12 for Western Carolina, which has now won five of its last six.
Ashton Moore led The Citadel (4-25, 0-14) with 16 points as the Bulldogs hit just 17 of 54 from the field and 13 of 20 from the free throw line. The Citadel has lost 17 straight and 21 of its last 22.
