CLACKAMAS, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State Police say a loose German Shepherd in the southbound lanes of Interstate 205 in the Clackamas, Ore., area precipitated a three-vehicle crash after two cars stopped for the dog and a pickup truck failed to notice the stopped vehicles.

Police say the pickup collided with the back of a stopped Mazda late Friday morning. The Mazda then hit the rear of a stopped Toyota before overturning on its top in the center lane.

The Mazda driver, a 59-year-old Portland woman, was taken to a hospital for an evaluation. The Toyota driver was unhurt.

Lt. Gregg Hastings says the pickup driver, 42-year-old Jack McKinley of Vancouver, Wash., was cited for driving while suspended.

Troopers and firefighters captured the dog and took it to a local vet clinic for examination of a possible injury.
