HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. Dannel Malloy’s newly appointed Department of Energy and Environmental commissioner will be appearing before state lawmakers for a confirmation hearing.

The General Assembly’s Legislative and Executive Nominations Committee has scheduled a hearing Tuesday for Robert Klee, named last month to succeed former Commissioner Daniel Esty, who returned to teach at Yale University.

Klee has most recently served as the chief of staff at DEEP, responsible for supervising the agency’s operations while also advising Esty and senior staff. He was first named to that job in April 2011.

Klee has previously worked as an attorney with the New Haven law firm Wiggin and Dana LLP, where he specialized in appellate work and environmental law. He holds a law degree and a Ph.D. in industrial ecology from Yale University.
