PARIS (AP) - Midfielder Thiago Motta has extended his contract with Paris Saint-Germain for a further year, tying him to the French league leader until 2016.

The 31-year-old Motta, who has represented Brazil and Italy at international level, has been one of PSG’s key players this season and has formed a solid partnership with Blaise Matuidi.

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan player helped PSG win the French title last season. He has played 48 league games for the club, scoring five goals.

Motta says “I’m very happy to continue following my dreams with Paris Saint-Germain” and “I want to help the club reach their ambitious goals, both in France and in Europe.”

PSG is also in negotiations with Brazil center half Alex and France international Matuidi over new contracts.
