First lady Michelle Obama appeared on the “Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon for a quick comedy sketch with Will Ferrell, to dish on her near-driving age daughter — and to solicit success stories for her signature “Let’s Move” exercise and nutrition campaign.

First, the humor: When asked about the normalcy of raising girls, ages 15 and 12, in the White House, Mrs. Obama said, “They want nothing to do with us. I am so serious,” MSNBC reported.

On daughter Malia, who’s about to turn 16 and takes driving lessons, she said: “When we’re out of here in a few years, they’ve got to be able to function as normal people so driving is part of that. Ladies and gentlemen of D.C. — watch out. Malia Obama on the road.”

The first also joined in a cameo skit with Mr. Ferrell and Mr. Fallon — who both donned drag — that included a school-girl mock of a Wayne’s World-style television show.

Interspersed with the joke lines were Mrs. Obama’s healthy eating tips, MSNBC reported. She later used her “Tonight Show” time to campaign more directly for her “Let’s Move” initiative, asking show watchers to send in their success stories and describe how they’ve incorporated exercise into their daily routines.

“I want to see how people around the country are moving and changing the standards of health for our kids,” she said, calling on Americans to share their “Let’s Move” stories via social media, using the #LetsMove hashtag.

As enticement: “If we get enough of a response, we’ll have a little surprise. The president and maybe the vice president will show us how they move,” she said, MSNBC reported.

Her healthy eating words of encouragement come just a few days after she fielded fire from critics who saw her recent White House state dinner menu as a solid example of gluttony. All the foods on the menu totaled 2,500 calories, various media reported.
